The mission of Jazz Education Abroad (JEA) is to increase cultural, musical, and educational awareness and exchanges between individuals and groups around the world. I am proud to be collaborating with JEA and its founder Dr. Gene Aitken.
Located in Echenevex, Pays De Gex, JDS is a school for intermediate and advanced drummers looking to expand their vocabulary, learn new material, and acquire smart practicing routines. JDS offers you the possibility of record your lessons on HD video and multitude of studying resources.
At the American University of Beirut I have been teaching classes on Jazz and African American Music. I also organized and directed Jazz Talks, the first AUB Jazz Festival.
My first teaching job as well as my Alma Mater. From drafting syllabi, giving drums lessons, to teach classes and assisting ensembles, that’s where everything started. Not to mention withnessing an array of amazing professionals at work everyday. City College is one of the best public universities in the US and hosts a very fine music program.
I also conduct clinics and seminaries. My newest idea is “Resolving Rhythm”, a project in which I try to explain rhythm in African American music blending academic discourse with performance practice.
